COURSE DESCRIPTION
In this course students will study the principles of animation through a series of projects and assignments designed to demonstrate the principles of animation .Issues sach as keyframing ,in-betweening,and cycling will be addressed as well.This course will also introduce students to the principles and techniques required for the development of professional, two-dimensional,traditional and digital animation issues.Students will create a variety of projects,and animated shorts.
COURSE GOALS
The following course goals articulate the general objectives and purpose of this course:
- Students will gain experience in the basic principles of animation including timing,expression of motion, pose to pose, keys and in-betweens, and become fluents in the technical production processes and applications used in the field.
- Equal emphasis will be placed on the the development of professional work practices, creative problem solving techniques and critical thinking skills.Competency will reflect a mastery of animation skills and applications, and an ability to apply learned skills to creative projects.
LEARNING OUTCOMES
The following course outcomes indicate competencies and measurable skills that students develop as a result of completing this course:
- Students will be able to demonstrate a practical knowledge and understanding of basic animation principles such as ; timing, squash and stretch, anticipation, etc…
- Students will employ the conceptual skills and production processes used in animation development.
- Students will demonstrate a working knowledge of professional animation tools and applications.
- Students will demonstrate professional work practices, creative problem solving techniques, and critical thinking skills the process of making animation.
- Students will be able to apply industry-standard capture techniques, such as image scanning, video capture and pencil test in the creation of 2D animation.
- Students will be able to evaluate scale and size in relation to character or object utilization.
- Students will be able to define and apply design terminology according to industry standard.
